Grupo alemán de Bremen de principios de los noventa cuyo siete pulgadas fue una de las primeras referencias del reconocido sello Per Koro de la misma ciudad, aunque haciendo una música algo distinta de otros grupos que hicieron tan conocido este sello y esta ciudad. Su sonido es más rockero y menos metal, con un aire DC en la voz y la música, que lo hace muy interesante. Poco después de estas cuatro canciones sacaron un LP en el mismo sello.

Spit Acid.Step Into Nowhere split EP

"Tell me what a world is this, where a friend kills a friend, where wars are raging, can't count the numbers on both hands. Tell me, who tries to set the rules for today's strategy, though everybody fights the other in ruthless stupidity, fighting, why fighting when all common sense is missing, is the other side just talking shit or have we forgotten just to listen, fighting, why fighting with no scrap of sense at all, certain of the necessity what started it off no one can recall. Tell me which lack of understanding is responsible for the lies, that justify the death of innocents, cause they were on the wrong side. Tell me what's the use in talking, stop distress from getting bigger, when people who cried out for help still go on and pull the trigger, looks like wounds that been scarred long ago haven't had enough time to heal" (Tell me, Spit Acid).

Siete pulgadas compartido por dos grupos alemanes. Por un lado, dos canciones de uno de mis favoritos, Spit Acid, haciendo muy bien lo que saben hacer, emopunk alemán con toques melódicos y sonido crudo y bonito, cantado en inglés. Para mi gusto, dos de sus mejores temas (en la onda de su LP): uno contra el maltrato animal y el segundo contra las guerras y la violencia. Por el otro lado, una canción de un grupo para mí desconocido (que tocan un estilo de hardcore muy diferente a Spit Acid (pero de alguna manera también muy alemán), mucho más oscuro y lento, metálico con toques sludge y una voz más gutural (me recuerdan un poco a los Zorn de su LP), muy intenso. Sin ser mi estilo preferido me gusta mucho este tema (me gustaría poder escuchar el EP anterior a este split), la pena es que no haya traducción de su letra en alemán. Buen disco de uno de los sellos alemanes más decisivos de esos años.

"If the Earth were only a few feet in diameter, floating a few feet above a field somewhere, people would come from everywhere to marvel at it. People would walk around it, marvelling at its big pools of water, its little pools and the water flowing between the pools. People would marvel at the bumps on it, and the holes in it, and they would marvel at the very thin layer of gas surrounding it and the water suspended in the gas. The people would marvel at all the creatures walking around the surface of the ball, and at the creatures in the water. The people would declare it precious because it was the only one, and they would protect it so that it would not be hurt. The ball would be the greatest wonder known, and people would come to behold it, to be healed, to gain knowledge, to know beauty and to wonder how it could be. People would love it, and defend it with their lives, because they would somehow know that their lives, their own roundness, could be nothing without it. Punk, punk, punk... ¡Qué discazo de esta pareja de fructíferos lunáticos del norte de Inglaterra! Nunca sabré con exactitud cuántos discos tienen grabados los Active Minds (entre elepés, epés, compartidos con todo tipo de grupos de todo el mundo, cassettes, recopilatorios) pero este flexi de una sola cara es sin duda uno de mis preferidos. Cinco canciones sacadas en colaboración con nueve sellos d.i.y. de todas partes del mundo (y con las letras y sus explicaciones personales traducidas en un montón de idiomas como solían hacer) por menos de veinte duros. Esto es punk. ¡Vivan los flexis!
