Seis temas en este décimo disco de los infatigables y versátiles Active Minds. Más de lo mismo (diferentes palos de punk inglés con temas más melódicos y otros más grind; largas explicaciones de las letras de sus canciones siempre muy politizadas e interesantes aunque en este caso sin traduccciones; precios populares; una actitud honesta y directa en toda lo que han hecho) aunque este siete pulgadas me gusta menos que los anteriores que he subido. Aún así, no tiene desperdicio y en todos sus discos tienen temazos pegadizos: de éste me quedo con Hardline numbskulls.
Mantened siempre activa la mente.

"In their search for lots of money bio-tech firms try to persuade us that natural food is flawed and that science is here to save us by mutating living organisms and then patenting their "inventions", and then trying to hide their motives with talk of charitable intentions. Active Minds - Dis is getting pathetic EP

"Don't be a cabbage... ...DISOBEY!"

Este fue uno de los primeros discos de punk que conseguí en una fira alternativa junto a un puñado más de grupos que me han marcado desde entonces. Este grupo me flipa. Ya subí hace poco su disco anterior (el flexi) y aquí siguen con más de lo mismo, pero aún mejor. Este pequeño vinilo de ocho temas es una especie de mofa al rollito Dis (la portada es la del EP de Discharge Fight Back y el título del disco es un buen juego de palabras) por aquello del punk más que una moda. Por entonces yo no sabía ni quien eran los Discharge, simplemente flipaba con la música a piñón, cruda y melodiosa, mal grabada e intensa de este dúo del norte de Inglaterra cuyo libreto tenía las letras de las canciones y sus explicaciones traducidas en varios idiomas con una letra muy pequeña. La primera canción de la cara b One step forward - Two steps back es para mí uno de sus muchos temazos. Rabia y ternura. Pura tralla con coco y honestidad. Indispensable.

Sacado en colaboración por varios sellos de diferentes países: Looney Tunes Records (sello del grupo) inglés, React de Francia, Victimas del Progreso - Crímenes de Estado de Madrid, el sello polaco Nikt Nic Nie Wie, el belga Grinding Madness y Tinnitus de Alemania, en 1995.

"If the Earth were only a few feet in diameter, floating a few feet above a field somewhere, people would come from everywhere to marvel at it. People would walk around it, marvelling at its big pools of water, its little pools and the water flowing between the pools. People would marvel at the bumps on it, and the holes in it, and they would marvel at the very thin layer of gas surrounding it and the water suspended in the gas. The people would marvel at all the creatures walking around the surface of the ball, and at the creatures in the water. The people would declare it precious because it was the only one, and they would protect it so that it would not be hurt. The ball would be the greatest wonder known, and people would come to behold it, to be healed, to gain knowledge, to know beauty and to wonder how it could be. People would love it, and defend it with their lives, because they would somehow know that their lives, their own roundness, could be nothing without it. Punk, punk, punk... ¡Qué discazo de esta pareja de fructíferos lunáticos del norte de Inglaterra! Nunca sabré con exactitud cuántos discos tienen grabados los Active Minds (entre elepés, epés, compartidos con todo tipo de grupos de todo el mundo, cassettes, recopilatorios) pero este flexi de una sola cara es sin duda uno de mis preferidos. Cinco canciones sacadas en colaboración con nueve sellos d.i.y. de todas partes del mundo (y con las letras y sus explicaciones personales traducidas en un montón de idiomas como solían hacer) por menos de veinte duros. Esto es punk. ¡Vivan los flexis!
